August Chamber Board Meeting Minutes

August 8, 2016

Meeting in session at 740 am; in attendance:

Sheri, Mike, Sandy, Michelle, Andrew, Morgan, Mandy, Steve, Josh.

All voted to approve July’s meeting minutes with the clarification of there is still an August meeting, the meeting in question was Septembers.

Treasure report:  As of July 8^th the balance was $23,583.50; liability insurance and other bills have since been paid.  D&O is due sometime in August.

Economic Development:  RDI has already identified a team that will be coming to survey our City; there was already a preliminary survey sent to citizens of Winston.

Cheetah:  Mike will be reaching out to Jill at Knife River about when we can move forward with the revamping of the Cheetah. 

August 23, 2016 General meeting will be help at Wintergreen Nursery at 6 pm.  Tables and chairs will be provided by Wintergreen; the Chamber will provide the Hamburgers, Buns, Chips and Condiments.  Chamber members will provide an additional dish to share.  Potluck style J

Greeters: Invited 4 new businesses to join the chamber, and invited them to our General Meeting in August- AM Resale, 4 Play Lounge, Winston Doughnuts, Looking glass Brewery. Also invited was Mike, of Umpqua Video now located in Winston next to DC Co-op.

Chamber Events/Promotions:  Blue Jean Ball tickets on sale @ Valley Drugs in Winston for $25 or purchase online at winstonbluejeanball.eventbrite.com. The event is August 27^th 8-11, doors open at 7 at the Winston Community Center.  All Proceeds will go towards the Updated restrooms for the Winston’s Riverbend Park.

New Business:  Andrew asked about the chamber investing in the Elephant Walk project.  It was decided that we as the Chamber cannot do an Investment, but will look at making a donation in support of the project in the future.  Becky Holms from Oregon Door wants to utilize chamber to promote business, discussed limits set for businesses, not individual recognition of employees unless its community oriented.  Andrew also invited Becky to become more active in our chamber; she has previous experience that could be very helpful as we continue to grow.  Levels of advertising were discussed and implementing a fee.  We will keep levels of being chamber member the same but will revamp the Dues letter to include an area for advertising on our Facebook Page. This will allow the business to have an add on FB that will continually scroll for everyone to see on the Chamber FB page which will be able to be purchased at membership renewal.

Business of the Month:  Winston Police Department

August 28^th @ 1230pm there will be a community Celebration at the Winston Baptist Church.  A lot to celebrate, Steve turns 60; Steve and Cindy 40^th Wedding Anniversary, 25 years that Steve and Cindy have been in our Community and 30^th Anniversary of the Winston Community Baptist Church.
